5:00am 18th December 1940 - Hydrophone contact again, a Merchant at long range travelling East at medium speed. It was a simple matter to intercept and a rear tube G7e was fired. at 3:01am the torpedo impacted, 3:05am the merchant was listing to its port side and taking on water rapidly. At 3:09am the ship had gone accompanied by several large explosions.
